Installation Guidelines_Pink® Insulation (Batts)

The PDF is a technical data sheet for Pink® Soundbreak™, a high-performance acoustic insulation product.

Here’s a summary:

1. Product Description and Applications: Pink® Soundbreak™ is designed to provide exceptional acoustic performance in residential buildings. It’s ideal for reducing sound transfer through walls (both internal and external), ceilings, and between floors. It also offers remarkable thermal performance, improving the energy efficiency of homes.

2. Physical Characteristics: The product comes in a range of sizes and R-values (a measure of thermal resistance), with different pieces per pack and coverage per pack. It’s known for its firmness, making it easy to install between standard stud spacings, and it’s low itch, making it comfortable to handle during installation.

3. Acoustic Performance: The product enhances the sound isolating performance of standard wall systems. For example, incorporating Pink® Soundbreak™ in a typical internal wall can increase the Weighted Sound Reduction Index (Rw) rating from 32 to 42, which is perceived as a doubling in sound isolating performance.

4. Thermal Performance: The thermal performance of Pink® Soundbreak™ varies with application and installation method. It complies with the requirements of AS/NZS 4859.1:2002 including Amendment 1.

5. Fire Safety: Pink® Soundbreak™ is classified as non-combustible and achieves excellent results in early fire hazard properties tests.

6. Moisture Absorption: The product absorbs less than 0.2% moisture by volume when exposed to environmental conditions of 50˚C and 95% relative humidity for four days.

7. Safe to Use: Pink® Soundbreak™ is manufactured from FBS-1 Glasswool Bio-Soluble Insulation®, which is safe to use and meets the criteria of the Australian Safety and Compensation Council to be classified as non-hazardous.

8. Environmental Impact: Pink® Soundbreak™ has been awarded the Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) Ecolabel and is Green Star compliant. It avoids the use of Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) substances in its manufacture and ensures that no harmful levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) are released.

9. Alkalinity: The product receives a rating of pH9 (pH7 is neutral) and will not promote or accelerate the corrosion of steel or galvanised steel studs provided they are protected from external contamination.

10. Maximum Service Temperature: Pink® Soundbreak™ has a maximum service temperature of 340˚C.
